Located around an hour away from Metro Manila is Angono, Rizal, known as the Art Capital of the Philippines. It’s home to the Higantes Festival and holds the distinction of being the first UNESCO Culture Capital of the Philippines. Additionally, the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs, considered the oldest artwork in the country, can be found here. Exploring and experiencing the art (mural, paintings and etc.) scattered throughout the town of Angono makes for a wonderful day activity.

how to get there:

At Shaw Blvd. or Cubao ride any jeep that has sign of Binangonan via Angono.

Tips:

  1. The best time to go there is during the weekdays except Mondays and Sunday because most of the museum are closed.
  2. Higantes Festival is the Sunday before Nov. 23.
  3. If you are bringing your car, make sure you come early so you can find a good place to park.

Reminders:

  1. Bring extra cloths, drinking bottle and wear rubber shoes.
  2. The best experience to explore the town is by walking.
  3. Be open to try foods that are unusual to you and learn the history and story of the places you will be visiting.
  4. Be mindful of your belongings.
