In the Central Luzon region of the Philippines, there is a landlocked province called Nueva Ecija. While Cabanatuan, its historic capital, is the country’s largest local government unit, Palayan serves as its capital (LGU). From the south, going clockwise, Nueva Ecija borders Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, and Aurora. The province, which generates the nation’s highest yield of rice, is referred to as the Rice Granary of the Philippines.
